Lorraine Schorr, MSW
Clinical Social Worker and Psychoanalyst
I am a highly experienced, analytically trained licensed psychotherapist and certified clinical hypnotherapist with counseling offices in Tarrytown, NY and Pomona, NY. I work with adults who are seeking help with emotional stress and relationship issues, as well as symptoms of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and alienation.
All of us have individual stories which we live with. Some stories have developed over a lifetime, others are the result of a recent event. Together we figure out the best approach to overcome the obstacles and self-limiting beliefs within these stories so that you can achieve your goals and feel fulfilled, more whole, creative and less stuck.
I work within an integrative framework which includes developmental, relational, cognitive and psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy. I work with individuals, couples and mother-daughter dyads. Psychotherapy is a very skilled and focused process. It is more than talking with a well meaning friend or concerned family member. My thirty years of training and experience have led me to believe in the value of my emotional connection to my patients. I believe the healing takes place in what we mutually reconstruct both in repeating and reworking our experience together.
Education
Lorraine Schorr received her education from Rutgers University, BA. She is a graduate of Fordham University School of Social Work, MSW, Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, and Couples therapy Program.
