Tarrytown Functional Medicine was founded in 1999 with the idea of providing multiple disciplines and modalities to patients in order to facilitate healing.

Dr. Fetell was trained at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Columbia Presbyterian for her medical and dermatology training. She has practiced dermatology for over 30 years. She initially became certified in clinical nutrition, incorporating nutrition into her dermatology treatment plans, but then realized the pressing need for nutrition as therapy in all medical conditions and consequently founded Tarrytown Functional Medicine.

At Tarrytown Functional Medicine Dr. Fetell uses laboratory assessment and nutritional testing to pinpoint imbalances and deficiencies in the bio terrain of her patients and then devises treatment plans based on the causes of their symptoms, regardless of the disease label they carry.   She integrates medical and nutritional therapies in order to facilitate healing, not to simply suppress unwanted symptoms.

Dr. Fetell also offers patients acupuncture and frequency specific microcurrent to give patient the “hands on” attention they need.   Acupuncture balances the body’s energy system while clinical nutrition builds the ability of the body to make energy. Building and balancing energy must be done together to have the best chance of overcoming difficult chronic health problems.  In addition, acupuncture stress treatments provide relief from the draining effects of stress and pain on the “energy batteries” of the body, the adrenal glands.

Frequency specific microcurrent is a modality we use for pain conditions.  This is essentially a massage with gloves that provide a tiny electrical current (which patients cannot feel) in specific combinations of frequencies.  In combination with acupuncture, we treat a wide variety of pain conditions with excellent results.

Dr. Fetell’s weight loss program can literally transform the way people look and feel. Dr. Fetell coaches patients to lose and maintain a healthy weight, which is integral to their health goals. She emphasizes that maintaining weight is a skill that must be learned in order to get off the roller coaster of repeated weight gain and loss that many people are on.

In addition, Dr. Fetell does general dermatology as well as cosmetic dermatology treatments such as Botox and Restylane to help people to look as good as they feel.  However, getting healthy is the best beauty treatment. Proper nutrition creates beautiful hair, skin, and nails.

In short, at Tarrytown Functional Medicine we have the means to help people suffering from chronic health problems, pain conditions, and stress, to build their health in order to feel better and look better.
